Buffalo ’66 is one of my favorite movies. Whenever I watch a film, read something, or hear a song that makes me feel something, I usually get this need to make my own little interpretation of it.

oil on canvas I’d be lying if I said this painting had some deep, specific meaning behind it. I had just watched the movie, fell in love with it and its whole aesthetic, and wanted to make a small painting I could finish that same day.

I added the little gecko simply because I’ve always found these tiny creatures so peculiar. But looking at it now, maybe there was something subconscious about that choice. Layla is peculiar too quiet, delicate, always just kind of there, observing.
